Safer at Pinnacle Header

Safer@Pinnacle Member Practices

To respect each other’s safety, Safety@Pinnacle requires members to follow the following guidelines upon returning to Pinnacle Health + Fitness:

  • If you’re sick or have symptoms, please stay home.
  • If someone in your home is ill, please stay home.
  • We ask you to wear a mask while entering and leaving the building. You do not need to wear a mask during your workout, class or use of the pools.
  • Wash and sanitize your hands before and after workouts, classes or use of the pools.
  • Maintain social distancing of six feet at all times in the club and specifically while working out, using the pools or waiting to use the pools. Use the floor graphic symbols in classes for guidance about distance.
  • Avoid using multiple accessories, such as gloves, straps, and wrists wraps. If you do, please disinfect them when changing equipment/stations.
  • Limit bringing personal items, including bags, to the fitness floor, classrooms, or pool areas.
  • Use Pinnacle-provided cloths and spray bottles to clean equipment before and after each use, including machines, dumbbells, bands, mats, kettlebells, TRX straps, benches, plates, clips, car keys, and any other item that you touch during your workout.
  • During workouts, minimize traveling, repeating your traffic pattern, or moving around the entire gym when possible.
  • Please bring from home a full water bottle; we will turn off fountains for safety reasons. Bottled water will be available for a no-contact purchase on your account.
  • Use social distancing and hygienic behaviors in locker rooms and showers.

For general questions or concerns on new safety procedures and protocols, email info@phfitness.com, or call 608-278-8118 Fitchburg or Capital Square, 608-442-8118.

Safer@Pinnacle Re-Opening

Hours for Phase One Re-Opening

Monday through Thursday: 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Friday: 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Saturday + Sunday: 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

We will close clubs from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday to sanitize all touchpoints in the gym.

  • When a personal training session concludes, your trainer will ask permission to sign off for you. This protocol minimizes contact points.
  • If you are uncomfortable coming inside the facility for your training session, you can arrange other training options, including virtual sessions using Zoom, FaceTime or Skype software or outdoor sessions
  • Please know we will do everything we can to make the club safe and comfortable for all.
  • Please use marked stairways as UP ONLY and DOWN ONLY to keep social distancing.
  • We ask you to keep your workouts to 1.5 hours of total time in the gym or 30 minutes in the pool. This will help our staff maintain safe cleaning and sanitization procedures.

For general questions or concerns on new safety procedures and protocols, email info@phfitness.com, or call 608-278-8118 Fitchburg or Capital Square, 608-442-8118.

Membership + Billing

To be fair to our members, we froze membership billing on March 20, 2020, the first day of Governor Tony Ever’s Stay At Home Order. We felt that was the honorable thing to do, and it reflects our value of fairness. We are grateful for our members and the supportive community we have built at Pinnacle.

We will re-activate current memberships on our re-opening date. Billing will resume in June, including any point of purchases, rentals, or personal training services made before the quarantine. We will add 15 days of no-cost time to every membership that is paid monthly.

If you prepaid your membership, thank you! We will extend your membership by the total number of days the club was closed.

To join as a new member or if you have questions regarding your membership, please

contact Tim Scheibe at tim@phfitness.com, Crystal Fehring at crystal@phfitness.com in Fitchburg or Jacob Schimpach at jacob@phfitness.com in our Capital Square location.

Phone 608-278-8118 for the Fitchburg location or 608-442-8118 for Capital Square.

Daily + Mid-Day Cleaning

Above and beyond our daily and nightly cleaning of the gyms, we added cleaning procedures and new cleaning equipment. Facilities will be closed Monday – Friday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. to sanitize the entire club using a hydrostatic sprayer process that kills viruses, including COVID.

Our routine cleaning and disinfecting will focus on equipment, doors, railings, locker rooms, surface counters, spa, and pool floors.

If you see a note on a piece of equipment indicating it is NOT available for use, please respect that boundary. Twice a day, we will switch some of the “Do Not Use” signs to other equipment to give us time to clean equipment as needed.

Clean air: Pinnacle’s HVAC system pulls in approximately 20,000 cubic feet of fresh air every minute and exhausts air at the same rate. This means you will be breathing in fresh air while in the pool area and our entire club.

Sanitation Stations

A red cart on the gym floor holds spray bottles, clean cloths, and hand sanitizer. Please take a Pinnacle-supplied cloth and a Pinnacle spray bottle with you on your workout to use on each piece of equipment. Clean the equipment before and after each use. There are disinfectant wipes available as well.

When you finish the workout, please return the spray bottle to the cart and place the cloth in our towel bins. Towels are washed and dried at a temperature of 170 degrees to ensure they are clean and sanitized.

Locker Rooms

  • Please use social distancing techniques in the locker rooms.
  • Use soap and water to wash your hands before and after your workout.
  • We recommend shower shoes.
  • Please flush toilets/urinals after use.
  • During the mid-day cleaning, we will spray the locker rooms, and hard surfaces with EPA/COVID rated disinfectants.

All members must follow the all-club Safety@Pinnacle Member Practices.

Kids Kastle

We will not open Kids Kastle until July as we transition into full operation. When it re-opens, we will have an online signup form available on our website to appropriately limit the number of families in that space at any one time. Please email Jill Lanham at jill@phfitness.com with questions regarding childcare.

Cardio + Strength Stations

We positioned Cardio stations to have six feet of distance from adjoining stations. Or we put “Do Not Use” signs on some equipment to maintain social distancing requirements. Twice a day, we will switch some of the “Do Not Use” signs to other equipment to give us time to clean as needed.

Please use the provided spray bottle cleaners and clean cloths to sanitize equipment before and after use.

Those who do cardio and strength workouts must follow the all-club Safety@Pinnacle Member Practices.

Personal Training

Our Trainer Team and Training Zone Floor are ready for your workout session. We welcome you back.

We removed some equipment for social distancing purposes. The floor area seems larger, with extra square footage allotted for each individual.

Follow the all-club Safety@Pinnacle Member Practices.

Personal training and strength training with outdoor equipment may occur, weather permitting. (See our outdoor jungle gym at our Fitchburg entrance.)

Contact your trainer to confirm the schedule, or reach out to our fitness director, Patryk Piekarczyk, if you have questions regarding individual training sessions and packages at patryk.piekarczyk@phfitness.com

Group X Fitness Classes

Our instructors look forward to leading classes in-person in our fitness studios.

All group fitness studios now have floor graphic symbols to help you identify appropriate social distancing square-footage boundaries for each participant. Using these floor markers, each participant will have approximately 8 feet by 15 feet or 120-square feet of space. Six feet is the recommended social distance. These practices more than doubled the amount of space for each participant and will limit the number of participants in our studios. It will, however, provide additional safety to our members, guests, and staff.

Phase 1 Studio Capacity:

Group Fitness StudioMax. # of Participants
Allowed in Phase 1

(not Including Instructors)
Fitchburg Studio 124
Fitchburg Studio 216
Capital Square Studio A11

In addition to the Safety@Pinnacle Member Practices, follow these safeguards for Fitness Classes:

  • Members must bring their own yoga mat to class.
  • Yoga students should bring their own mat, yoga block, and yoga strap class.
  • Gently-used Yoga blocks, yoga mats, and straps are available for purchase at the front desk. They have been cleaned and disinfected. Prices range from $3 to $10.
  • Therabands in Studio 2 have been temporarily removed. Resistance tubing with handles can be used. Bring your own TheraBand from home and take it home with you after class.
  • You will need to use a provided Lysol/Clorox wipe before and after class to clean mats, any items you bring into the studio such as your water bottle, car keys, etc., and any other items the instructors suggest.
  • Class times will be staggered to allow for the proper time to clean up after the class, eliminate any locker room congestion, help aid traffic flow throughout the club, and help all members and staff maintain proper social distancing guidelines.
  • Instructors are encouraged to teach class facing the mirror to minimize speech-generated droplet emissions.

Our Phase One Interim Schedule for June has new class names, but the formats are the same or similar. We are re-branding some of our class offerings specifically to Pinnacle. The new class addition is Phunctional X-Training at Capital Square with Cassidy and Eric. See the class descriptions for more information. We plan to add more classes to the schedule as we move into Phase Two and beyond. https://www.phfitness.com/calendar

We are starting a new online signup process for classes at https://phfitness.as.me/schedule.php. There will be an approximate 24-hour window of time before each class when online signup will go "live" for members to register for a class. Once members fill a class, we will close it for further attendees.

Virtual Fitness Options

Fitness on Demand is a workout app that is no-cost for members to use on your devices while in the club. Download the Fitness on Demand app from the App Store to have access to hundreds of workout formats led by professional, celebrity Master Instructors, and Trainers. Reach out if you need assistance to get it working on your phone or tablet.

During quarantine, we started the no-cost PINN@Home live classes on ZOOM, and we posted them to our YouTube page, called Pinnacle Madison. These will continue for a short time and you can subscribe at https://www.youtube.com/user/PinnacleMadison.

These virtual offerings are an excellent option if you are hesitant to go inside the club, but you still want to work out with us. The virtual classes are offered as a thank you gift for being our member.

  • Also, watch for details on outdoor cycle rides at Fitchburg and Capital Square.
  • Cyclists must follow the all-club Safety@Pinnacle Member Practices.
  • In addition, be sure to wipe down the bike seat, handles, gears and components you touch, both before and after use.

Aquatics

We tentatively plan classes to return with a limited number of participants based on the square footage of pool and guidelines from the following resources: Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, the Centers for Disease Control, the U.S. Masters Swimming, and the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals. The CDC states, “proper operation and disinfection of pools, hot tubs, and water playgrounds should kill the virus that causes COVID19.” https://www.cdc.gov/healthywater/swimming/index.html

Pinnacle's HVAC system pulls in approximately 20,000 cubic feet of fresh air every minute and exhausts air at the same rate. This means you will be breathing in fresh air while in the pool area and our entire club.

Pinnacle will establish the following aquatic guidelines from Monday through Friday in Phase One of re-opening:

Private Lessons

  • Private lessons will resume in the pool soon for adults and children who can comfortably swim laps on their own. We are currently not able to offer lessons for participants who require an instructor in the water with them.
  • Open water private swim training will be available.
  • We will provide individual training plans that offer three workouts per week tailored to you and your training needs plus one private swim lesson per month. We give lessons in the pool or open water.

Open Water Small Group and Private Training

  • We expect this will begin in June.

Masters Swim

  • Masters Swim will be on hold as we limit the number of swimmers in the lap pool to one person per lane. We will resume when we can safely do so.

Lap Swimming (Indoor and Outdoor Pools)

  • We will limit lap swimming to one person per lane in the outdoor and indoor pools.
  • We will require odd-numbered lanes for entry/ exit from the shallow end and even-numbered lanes for entry/ exit from the deep end to help facilitate social distancing on the pool deck.

  • We removed Pinnacle-owned shared equipment (noodles, bells, foam weights, kickboards, fins and pull buoys, etc.).
  • Members may bring their personally owned, cleaned training aids.
  • We ask members to limit their swims to 30 minutes if others are waiting.
  • We added 10 minutes to the schedule before and after classes to accommodate social distancing.
  • Members can use lap lanes to allow for social distancing during transitions.
  • We ask that lap swimmers keep an eye on the time, exit promptly before classes, and wait to enter the pool until all participants from a previous class exit.
  • We ask members waiting on the pool deck to practice social distancing of six feet.

We plan to add classes into the rotation as we can increase our capacity in Phase Two and beyond. https://www.phfitness.com/calendar/
  • We will start a new online signup process for classes at https://phfitness.as.me/schedule.php. There will be an approximate 24-hour window of time before each class when online signup will go “live” for signups. Once members fill the class, we will close it for further attendees.
